A Little Encouragement Goes A Long Way

A few days ago, I recieved some praise. It lit up my entire world.

Okay, so that sounds like an exaggeration. But it really did. I felt elated.

It was only a little thing. It was also a bit unexpected. I had left my drawings out on the table – finalised versions, rough draft versions, scribbles, doodles and all. I didn’t think anyone would be interested enough to look at the messy pile of papers.

She was genuinely interested. Enthusastic. She gave me encouragement.

“I really like your drawings,” she said. “You could write a manhua.”

Really? I thought. Someone thinks I could actually do that? Someone who had no idea that this is one of the things that I would love to do?

Simple words. They left me smiling for so long.

I’m not sure if it’s achievable. But in a way, it doesn’t matter. I want it to be achievable for myself, at least.

Her encouragement reminded me of why I started this. And why, no matter what happens, I have to finish. 🙂
