Don’t Tell Me Not To Fly, I’ve Simply Got To!

One of my favourite “go get ’em!” songs is absolutely ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ from the musical Funny Girl.

With an opening line of Don’t tell me not to live, just sit and putter, this song is all about getting out there and trying your best to get what you want.

I gotta fly once, I gotta try once – that’s right, we should all at least try once!

Life is juicy, juicy and you see, I’ve gotta have my bite, sir – will you be having your bite out of the “life apple”?

Here’s the original version sung by the iconic Barbra Streisand.

And here’s the Glee version, sung by the amazing Lea Michele (stay strong, Lea). This version is the one I came across first and ignited my adoration for Funny Girl and Streisand.

This song inspires me to get out there and try my best! I hope you all strive to work your hardest too!

About Lily

Lily is the blogger's name of an overimaginative, positivity-powered, and potentially awkward introvert girl who likes to think she's "quirky" (though it's very possible that she's just plain weird!) She loves music, musical theatre, art & comics, inspirational stories, languages, expressive people and anything that is a little eccentric.
